MedQIS® is a Quality Indicator Survey (QIS) tool designed specifically to maintain survey compliance and quality management in long-term care. Facilities can be proactive by analyzing potential survey issues in a way that is similar to the CMS Quality Indicator Survey. MedQIS® uses the same calculations and thresholds as the QIS to identify residents at risk. This provides facilities with the tools they need to implement corrective actions and efficient quality assurance programs. Our uniquely-designed and user-friendly survey software enables nursing facilities to enhance quality of care while ensuring regulatory compliance.
The Quality Indicator Survey (QIS) is designed to reflect the care given to residents while comprehensively assessing compliance with federal and state regulations. At MedQIS®, we believe survey preparation, which involves multiple dimensions. This program is uniquely-designed for long-term care providers to achieve survey readiness 24/7. The value of MedQIS® goes beyond survey readiness and focuses on delivering quality care, ensuring customer satisfaction, tracking and analyzing unplanned discharges, analyzing MDS, tracking and trending major incidences, and creating corrective actions and QAPI programs.
Consistent use of MedQIS® helps long-term care facilities prepare for both Quality Indicator Survey (QIS) and traditional surveys. MedQIS® helps facilities conduct mock surveys. Our system will guide even less experienced surveyors to follow the QIS steps established by the CMS. Instructions and interpretive guidelines from the State Operations Manual (SOM) can be accessed in each section of the mock survey. Our final mock survey report includes all potential F-tags with explanations and scope/ severity. Our system will create statements of deficiency (SOD) and assist the facility in preparing plans of correction (POC).
Survey compliance and quality assurance go hand-in-hand. Our ongoing resident, family, and staff interviews, along with observations, MDS analyses and clinical records reviews will enable the facility to identify the root causes of issues as part of the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) programs. Even in states that have not adopted the QIS process yet, implementing MedQIS® will enable facilities to be ahead of the curve. Live data from MedQIS® Care Area Risk Assessment will focus facilities on their areas of concern. Subsequently, facilities can develop QAPI plans and customer service programs.
Long-term care facility residents frequently experience potentially avoidable inpatient hospitalizations. Unplanned transfers to hospitals are often expensive, disruptive, and disorienting for frail elders and people with disabilities. Long-term care residents are especially vulnerable to the risks that accompany hospital stays and transitions between nursing facilities and hospitals, including medication errors, in-house acquired wounds and hospital-acquired infections. Our uniquely designed program will help nursing staff identify changes in conditions and develop actions to prevent avoidable hospital transfers.
Using MedQIS® helps facilities analyze risk management issues on a consistent basis. Major incidences such as falls with injury, injuries of unknown origin, elopements, in-house acquired wounds, bruises/ lacerations, fractures, sexual misconduct/ rape, resident to resident altercations, allegations of abuse, visitor incidents, neglect, employee incidents, medication errors, theft, misappropriation, discharges AMA, deaths other than natural causes, equipment malfunction, etc. are tracked for trending. Our system has the capability to track and prepare reports for all major incidences related to residents, employees and others.
